Enviromental Policy

DELPHI-DISTOMON SA company operates in the mining of bauxite from underground mines.

Due to its form, activity and size, as well as its proximity to areas of particular environmental sensitivity which are protected by the Natura 2000 network, as well as to the Delphi archaeological site and the Parnassos National Park, the company has multiple environmental interests.

Within the frame of its perspective for sustainable development, respect for the environment is a priority of equal importance to the safety of its Personnel, its financial performance and its Customer satisfaction.

For this reason, the company’s Management examines and establishes an environmental policy that forms the basis for an Environmental Management System (EMS) in line with the requirements of the international ISO 14001 standard.

According to this policy, the Company is committed to:

  • the fulfillment of all compliance obligations (all applicable legal requirements).
  • the protection of the Environment, including the prevention of pollution during the execution of its productive operations, through the adoption of preventive measures that address any possible risk of permanent or incidental pollution or environmental accident and through the establishment of action plans for the reduction or elimination of the potential impact of environmental accidents.
  • the particular commitment to the exploitation of all rainfall water and groundwater from underground sites.
  • the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems.
  • the continuous improvement of its EMS in order to keep improving its environmental performance.
  • the incorporation of environmental criteria in its decision-making process.

The Environmental Policy is at the disposal of all stakeholders and is regularly reviewed by the Administration.
